3 Car Hacks Every Mom Needs To Know

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of PERK for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Moms let’s get real. We spend a lot of time in our cars. Driving to play dates, vacations, the dreaded carpool lines, shuffling kids from practices and oh, the errands. Some days it’s like they never end. And some days it’s like we never leave our car. Here are three tips that will help you to make your car a little more enjoyable.

1. Diaper Bags Aren’t Just For Babies

Joshua is 12 and we still have a bag. Now it’s just a backpack, but it stays in the car. Here is what I keep in mine:

  1. Chargers – one for each device. These are designated ‘car only chargers’ which means just that – they stay in the car.
  2. Headphones – Again these are for the car only. Right now Joshua’s favorite music is video game theme music. As exciting as that is…it’s a little repetitive for Mom. And driving down the highway during rush hour to the Halo theme song is a tad too intense for me.
  3. A book – Every so often I order a new book on Amazon and pop it in there. Josh never knows when it will arrive and it’s always a surprise. I always make sure to have a favorite on stand by too.
  4. Wipes – Fast food? Spilled drinks? No problem. I don’t care if you have a 6 month old or a 16 year old, you should have wipes in your car.
  5. Snacks – Fruit snacks, mini bags of pretzels, and granola bars are all good choices.

2. Keep a Laundry Basket In Your Trunk

You may have read that and thought what?! But hear me out because I swear by this one! For some reason, making two trips to my car is just totally out of the question. I insist on grabbing everything and hauling it in at once. Some days I probably look ridiculous with 15 grocery bags, dry cleaning draped over my shoulder, a purse, and take out pizza (because who cooks after they go to the grocery store?) all in my hands while corralling two dogs and a child. Now, I keep a laundry basket in the trunk. Not only does it make carrying all those bags inside so much easier, but it keeps things from falling out of the bags and rolling around. (I learned my lesson that time I thought I forgot the sour cream at the grocery store only to find it under the back seat 3 days later. It was summer. My car smelled HORRIFIC.)

3. The Only Way To Get Your Car Smelling Good

Speaking of smells….I’ve tried all of the car air fresheners out there. Some smell good for a day. Some even last a week. But they don’t smell as good as I would like and they don’t last. That is until I tried PERK Visor Wrap. Available in different scents like Summer Berry, New Car, Golden Vanilla or what is in my car right now, Carribean Colada. Perk slides onto your visor. It’s out of the way so it doesn’t look like a bunch of clutter in your car and there is nothing to hang on your mirror. The best part? Your visor can still work as a visor. Wait, no that’s not the best part. The best part is this stuff smells good. And it smells good for 30 days. Wait, no that’s not the best part either. The best part is that I’m giving away a 6 month supply of Perk, a travel mug and 2 pairs of Perk sunglasses! Can’t wait to get your own Perk fragrance? (I don’t blame you.) You can find them at Walmart, Target, Advance Auto Parts, AutoZone, Meijer, Kroger, Pep Boys, Publix, CVS, and other places auto air fresheners are sold.
