Every year I am on the look out for video games, video game consoles and video game accessories to fill my family’s Christmas list. Evil Controllers is the BEST place to shop if you have a gamer on your shopping list! They sell customized and modded video game controllers. Having a good controller is important to help you succeed in a game. Having a fun, customized, high quality controller will help your gamer not only succeed in the game, but it becomes a trophy. One that they can’t wait to show their friends!

 

Evil Controllers sent us an Xbox 360 controller to test out. We chose the Urban Green (above) because it reminded us of Minecraft which in our house is HUGE.

 

It came quickly, well packaged in a fun box.

 

We even got a pretty awesome hat and some Evil Controller dog tags (which Josh wears to school everyday!) As soon as Josh took the controller out of the box all of the kids were ooohing over it. Josh’s response: “AWWWESOME!” The other kids: “Mom I want a controller like that!”

 

Not sure what a modded controller is?? Well, honestly, I wasn’t either. I’m not a gamer. I’m just a mom who has a gamer son. Although, I will say that I am pretty darn awesome on Donkey Kong Country and I do know where the magic flutes are in Super Mario Brothers 3. Our controller came with the Evil Backplate. I LOVE this!! It’s totally not evil at all – it’s perfect. Basically, in easy, non-gamer terms it means it has rechargeable batteries in there. You just plug it in to charge (the cord is included). No more searching for batteries!! It will last up to 60 hours when fully charged and even has a fan inside to help protect the controller and keep it cool.

 

Another difference between a regular ol’ controller and the Evil Controller is the little plus keypad isn’t there (yes, I realize there is probably a term for it. No, I do not know what it is. Again, not a gamer – just a mom!) The Evil Controller has 4 little buttons. I didn’t think it was a big deal – but apparently, it is. Josh told me it makes it more accurate. Sometimes when using the keypad he would accidently push left when he was sliding his finger down, or turn right when he was sliding his finger up. Having them as 4 seperate buttons he doesn’t have to worry about making a mistake. Totally makes sense – even to a lame mom like me!

The controllers also have lots of mods (like that term? 🙂 ) for popular games such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, Gears of War 3, and Mass Effect. They allow for things like rapid fire, auto aim, life extender and many more. I’m a mean mom and we don’t have any of those games so we weren’t able to test out those mods, but there are tons of awesome reviews about them! If you have a gamer who enjoys those kinds of games then this is REALLY a must have!!
