Just Batty Pillow

I’ve been working on some Halloween ideas – is it to early? I love fall, it’s my favorite time of year. And Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I have to admit, this bat pillow I made, I’m pretty much in love with.
I love the wings that move around. And I love the texture that it ads. Did I mention that it was quick, easy and cheap? Yes, all things I love.
Now, don’t go giving me credit for thinking this adorable pillow up. A few years ago I saw Amy from Ameroonie Designs made an adorable pillow. I wish it wouldn’t have taken me so long to make it!
You will need:
black felt – I used 5 pieces
solid black fabric – 2 pieces cut to desired size
black thread
pillow insert or stuffing
You can either print out a bat or draw one for a template. I just drew a quick one – it doesn’t have to be anything fancy! Then trace it onto the felt. I was able to get 3 bats per sheet of felt. Cut them out.
Pin the bats onto the fabric evenly spaced.
I chose not to sew down my bats’ wings. I sewed an upside down triangle shape on the center of the bats’ bodies leaving the wings free so they could ‘fly’.
Then place the second piece of black fabric on top of the piece with the bats sewn on. Sew together leaving an opening. Turn right side out and stuff full. Sew up the closing.
Admire your new pillow.
I will be linking up to these great parties.
