4 Things You Need This Winter
Just when we thought winter was over, the bitter cold has returned. And snow. It’s a good thing that I have my winter essentials! Here are four things that you need, that you may not have thought of, to get you through the worst of winter.
1. Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair
I have made this my go to winter beauty product. Winter has been brutal this year. Not so much with snow, but with the cold. I read the other day that it was colder in Indiana (where we live) than it was in Antartica. And if that’s not bad enough – today is even colder than it was that day! YUCK! We’ve had temperatures with wind chills of -25 to -30 degrees. BRU-TAL.
All of this winter weather has been wrecking havoc on my skin. It’s been dry. REALLY dry. And what’s worse – it will get itchy and my hands have even started to crack.
So when I heard about Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair, I jumped at the opportunity to try it. It deeply moisturized and I could feel relief from the very first time I used it. Now, my skin looks like summer skin (minus the tan – haha). It’s soft and smooth.
2. A Good Blanket
Now obviously everyone needs to keep warm during the winter, but when I say a good blanket I mean one that you just like to snuggle in. Ask my friends. When we go shopping for things for our homes there are 2 things I always seem to throw in my cart. Pillows. And throw blankets. I can’t help it. I love them.
When winter comes around, I love grabbing one of my super soft blankets and curling up on the couch. Which brings us to number 3 of my winter time musts.
3. A Good Book
Snow is fun to get out and play in, but sometimes the cold and wind can make it dangerous. Since we’ve been experiencing a lot of that kind of weather around here this year, it’s been dubbed the winter of reading. Everyone gets new books and we all curl up and read. Seriously, does it get better than this?
Well, yes. It does. Because we read with our blankets and a cup of hot cocoa. (Pure bliss!)
4. Don’t forget your pets!
Our pets are indoor pets, but our cat does like to go outside. It’s been too cold for her so she has been staying in with us. And the few times she does go out, we make sure that no one has plans on leaving and keep an eye out. Generally, 10 or 15 minutes later she’s back wanting to come in. (And who can blame her?)
Every year though, we do pick up a bag of birdseed. I’m not sure why we don’t have a bird feeder or even why we don’t feed the birds all year around, but in the winter it’s a must. I just throw it out on our back porch. The birds have a hard time finding food and they are really grateful! We get some regulars. We have a Cardinal couple who come a lot and a Blue Jay who visits pretty regularly. The kids like to see the birds outside (and, well, our cat likes to watch too!)
What things would you consider your winter time musts?
Don’t forget to pin!

I couldn’t forget my little pooch even if I had amnesia. He’s one of a kind. Good lotion like Vaseline is a must in the cold months, too.

Your cats eyes are beautiful! My winter musts are thick lotions, band aids (because my skin is so dry it gets cuts), thick socks and floor heaters.

I love seeing the cardinals and juncos outside in the winter. I like to keep putting out bird seed for them through the winter!

I was so delighted to find the new Vaseline Intensive Care aloe soothe at Walgreens the other day. You just can’t beat the quality when the wind and weather team up to steal all the moisture in the skin. I’m a warm, cuddly blanket buyer too – the soft coziness is so great. I just fall into the four things you listed for winter!

I hate to say it, but it hasn’t been too horrible here. Although my skin is not loving the drier weather. I definitely could use the Vaseline Intensive Care.
