5 Times You Should Be Renting Furniture Instead Of Buying

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of CORT for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

We all love a pretty home. Heck, I confess that I subscribe to some home decor catalogs just to look at the beautiful design. When it comes to my own home, well, I try. I do my best, but it doesn’t look like the catalogs. But the older I get, the more it comes along; it’s evolved and most certainly has changed a lot! 5 TIMES One thing that I have learned over the years is something simple: furniture rental. YES. Did you even know it was a thing? It is and it’s totally awesome. Why is it awesome? Who is it awesome for? Here are some ideas for you to find out if furniture rental is for you!

1. You are a student.

Many students start off in their dorm rooms for at least the first year. But then, it’s time for roommates and your first shared apartment. You realize that you can get rid of that loft bed and beanbag that you called bedroom furniture. So while hunting for furniture you quickly realize that you can get cheap furniture that doesn’t last and is uncomfortable or you can get expensive furniture. Oh wait, no you can’t get expensive furniture. Your budget isn’t ready for that. And while there are some super cute furniture re-do’s of curbside trash to treasure….who has time! Renting a bedroom set is a great alternative. You get great quality and get beautiful furniture. Life is changing! Maybe you will be in this apartment until you graduate, maybe not. Don’t mess with moving stuff – rent it and get it moved for you! But you won’t just need a bedroom set. Go in with your friends and choose a living room you all love. CORT has great packages available starting at $119 for a student package (bedroom, living room and dining room!) That’s only $40 a month per room! (Don’t forget to split the cost of the living room and dining room with your roommates!) living room

2. You Are On Your Own…For The First Time

Your first time on your own is even more exciting than moving out of your dorm. But, stocking it can be a nightmare. You need dishes, and brooms, and TV’s and towels….and the list really never ends. If you are still a student, take advantage of that $119 package from CORT Furniture Rental, but add their household package ($64) and get a complete kitchen – dishes, cookware, etc as well as a complete bathroom with towels, shower curtain, trash can as well as sheets and all of the fittings for your bedroom. That’s totally worth the $64!! You can even add a TV and TV stand. Don’t max out your credit cards or waste money buying junky items that you will just have to replace soon anyways. Rent their package and be able to buy what you want and the quality you want at your own pace. bedroom

3. You Are In The Military

While I don’t have any personal experience with being in the military, I have friends that do. And boy, they move a lot! My friend Elizabeth and her family moved several times over the past few years with their last move going from Alaska to North Carolina. Can you imagine? That’s a BIG move!! If you rented with CORT you don’t have to worry about packing or shipping (or ugh, having to sell everything you own) when you get the next assignment. CORT loves to work with military members and if you move, get deployed, get discharged, etc they will simply let you out of your contract. Easy.

4. You Have A Life Change

Whether you get divorced, have a parent (or adult child) move in with you or are hosting an exchange student – life happens. With life changes, the last thing you need to be thinking about is buying furniture or the costs associated with it. Need to turn that office into a bedroom for a few months? No problem. Did you split the furniture in your divorce and now you need a living room set? Got you covered! CORT is here to help! You have plenty of other things to worry about. Don’t stress over furniture! dining room

5. You Are Like Me & Change Your Mind

My style is still evolving. I bought my living room set last year and I already want to change it out. But my living room is open to my dining room so if I change one room then I really need to change both rooms. And I would love new bedroom furniture. Sound familiar? If you like to decorate and redecorate try renting your furniture! CORT has adorable furniture available perfect for your design ideas. And in a year, when you change your mind, no problem!

Can you think of another occasion where it would be better to rent furniture instead of buying it?
