Teacher Appreciation Gift Idea: Candles & Candle Warmers (Plus a free printable tag!)

If you haven’t heard yet, Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5-9th. So to get ready we have been posting lots of easy ideas for you to make your child’s teacher a special something to show how much you appreciate all of their hard work!
So far this week we have shared printable tags to attach to soda (You are ‘SO-DA’ teacher!) and water bottles (I just can’t bottle it up anymore!) Both gifts were super cute and something that I’m sure any teacher would appreciate. Today we have TWO printables that you can use to add to your gifts!
If you have a super awesome teacher you should definitely think about getting them a pretty candle warmer! I know teachers love to have their classrooms smell nice, but you aren’t allowed to have candles with open flames (due to obvious reasons!) burning. I know when I was teaching lots of teachers brought in candle warmers to plug in to keep their classrooms smelling nice!
This warmer is so pretty! It’s from Candlewarmers.com and is actually a warming lamp, which means it actually gives off some light as opposed to a traditional warmer.

Want to know what goes great with candle warmers or even as gifts on their own? Candles! City Creek Candles is hands down my favorite place to get candle and candle waxes! I love them because they are super awesome quality, but their site is so easy to find exactly what you are looking for! Their (tons) of scents are organized by categories like citrus + fruit, woods, sea + sand, green + herbal and more!
We have the frosted cake wax in our candle warmer and, true story, the first time we put it on Josh came up from the basement because he thought I had made cupcakes. (He was quite disappointed! No cupcakes – just a candle!)
This time they sent me Sugared and Citrus. You have no clue how amazing this sells! I’m obsessed!

Make sure to print the gift tag (below!!) and add your favorite ribbon to create a fun (and great smelling!!) gift!
To attach the bow to the candle I just cut a piece of ribbon to fit snugly around the jar and hot glued it to form a loop and slipped it on.
If your ribbon is a little loose just put a small dot of hot glue on the glass and it should hold. When your teacher is ready to use the candle it should pull of pretty easily.
Just save the above image to your computer (or flash drive). I fit mine to take up one page and printed it at a local copy shop on card stock.

Teacher Appreciation Gift Idea – Teacher Water Bottle Printable Gift Tag

Teacher Appreciation DIY Gift Idea: You are ‘SO-DA’ Teacher with Printable tag
The next few weeks are full of special occasions! We just celebrated Easter yesterday, Earth Day is April 22nd, Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5-9th and Mother’s Day is May 12th. And just in case anyone is curious, Josh’s birthday is right there in the middle, on May 6th! (11 years old – oh my gosh!!!) I think with the late Easter this year everything else has just snuck up on me!
So if you are anything like me, now that the Easter baskets are put away, you are scrambling for a gift for the teachers. Requirements: Cute, fun, useful, delicious is always a plus and of course, I can’t spend a bundle. (Although, if I could I would! Teachers are totally worth it!) Josh has lots of teachers (Science, Math, English, his Resource teacher and not to mention therapists!) so all week I will be sharing some of our gifts! The hard part will be deciding who gets what!
This first teacher appreciation gift is one of my favorites! One of Josh’s favorite things to do when we are at World Market is to pick out soda bottles. They have so many varieties of ‘old time’ soda and fun flavors. While we were there the other week stocking up on some fun flavors for our Easter celebration, I had an idea. We should take a pack of soda to one of Josh’s teachers! I asked Josh what he thought and he loved the idea. He was so excited to pick out a nice variety for his teacher.
What is a good teacher appreciation gift without a fun pun? We came up with You are ‘SO-DA’ teacher! Cheesy? Check! Awesome? Double check!
I created a quick apple printable and printed it on card stock. Then I made a quick bow (isn’t the ruler ribbon cute?) and attached the tag to a sparkly miniature clothes pin and slipped it to the pack of soda.

Easter DIY Craft – How to Make a Resurrection Garden
Last year I shared with you our Resurrection Rolls and yesterday I shared with you another snack to use while teaching the Easter Story. Today I am sharing an Easter DIY project that is one of my favorites! A Resurrection Garden! Just seeing this on our table reminds me of the true meaning of Easter and is a great reminder of so many things that I am blessed with! It’s an amazingly easy project with lots of variety so feel free to make it your own!
You will need:
– A pot/saucer – Potting Soil
– A smaller terracotta pot
– Rocks (1 bag of small rocks and 1 large)
– Sticks
– Twine/Yarn
– Either Wheat Grass or Moss
First just put a little potting soil into your saucer. Not a lot!
Next, lay your smaller pot on it’s side. This will be your ‘tomb’. Position it where you would like.
Now, lets add the rocks. Use the small ones to create a pathway. The large rock I rolled to the side of the tomb. That way you can see inside that it is empty and that He is risen!
Fill in your garden with dirt. You will want to go over the tomb!
To make the Crosses you simply break a stick and using either yarn, twine or even hot glut stick them together.
Originally we were going to plant wheat grass on ours. It grows really quickly and is nice and thick. But, instead we decided to go for the instant gratification of the moss. 🙂

No Bake Easy Easter Snack & Resurrection Activity For Kids
Easter is one of my favorite holidays! I love everything about it! I try to make sure that the reason behind the season isn’t lost in all the jelly beans and Easter Eggs. If you are looking for a quick and easy snack and activity to do with your children or a project for Sunday School at church this one is always a big hit!
No Bake Easy Easter Snack & Resurrection Activity For Kids
Start with a Graham Cracker and spread on some green tinted icing. Green grass is always very Easter-ish! 🙂
Then we add a doughnut to represent the tomb that Jesus was buried in.
Then we added half of a doughnut hole to represent the rock that had been moved to reveal the empty tomb. And for fun we added a toothpick with the words “He Has Risen!”.
This project is quick to hold the kiddo’s attention, a great lesson, easy for the small kids to make and fun for the big ones to want to make one too! Feel free to decorate with green coconut for grass, flower sprinkles, or fun Easter toppers!

Leprechaun Tricks – How to Catch A Leprechaun
So if you have been following along you know that we have been trying to capture a Leprechaun. The Leprechauns at our house have proved to be quite tricky! They always seem to take the bait out of our traps and have been pulling silly tricks on us in return.
So far they have covered toys in shamrocks.
Yesterday, they left notes around the house for the kids to find.
But last night. Last night takes the cake! Caleb decided that his Leprechaun Bait (a gold chocolate coin!) would be better off eaten then left out. When the Leprechauns came to collect their gold I don’t think they were happy! When the kids woke up they found this note:
The older kids get up before Caleb in the morning for school. You should have seen them running to the bathroom a little worried about finding green hair. When they realized the coast was clear (for them!) it didn’t take long for them to run and wake up Caleb. And find him looking a little like this
The look on his face was perfect. The kids are yelling “The Leprechauns turned your hair green!!” and of course he reaches up to touch his hair…I guess to see if it feels green. 🙂
Then, when he had about 10 seconds to actually wake up he runs to the mirror and yep. There it is. Green hair. He couldn’t believe it happened while he was asleep.
Good thing today just happened to be Crazy Hair Day at school! 🙂
If the Leprechauns at your house are planning on pulling this prank here are a few tips:
– THIS is the hairspray our Leprechaun used.
-It’s best to have your Leprechaun wake up early and spray rather than at night. Between the tossing and turning and just number of hours at night by morning it will fade.
– BUT it fades…and washes out. Non-permanent. Good stuff. Plus, it washed out of the pillow case too (I washed it twice).
– The stuff stinks when you first spray it. Caleb woke up with just a few concentrated spots of green. And the Leprechaun left the bottle for us to finish touching up. Plus he sprayed on spots that would be hard to roll around on the pillow case and rub off. But that depends on the way your child sleeps!

St. Patrick’s Day Decoration Craft – Table Runner
I’ve been busy getting ready for St. Patrick’s Day. I have to say, I’m a little disappointed in the stores. I’ve been having some trouble finding cute decorations. THIS girl MUST decorate for all of the holidays!! Not to worry I probably would have paid big bucks for this runner at the store. And it was really inexpensive to make. And took a whole 10 minutes. Even if you are a beginner sewer this is a project for you! And if you aren’t a sewer? I bet you could use some iron on tape. 🙂
You will need:
St. Patrick’s Day Burlap Fabric in a length that will fit your table (I got mine at Joann Fabrics – get it online here for $4.99 a yard!)
Green Lace (again I got mine at Joann Fabrics!)

I used a side table so the width of the words was perfect on my fabric. I purchased 2 yards and was able to get enough to make 3 runners! I purchased 1 1/2 yards of green lace and used it all on this one runner. The more layers you want the more lace you will need!
Pin the sides up. Like I said, I used the words on my fabric as a guide. They were the perfect width!
Pin up the bottom! That way no rough edges hanging out. Then just sew all the way around.
Then starting with the bottom layer, sew a strip of lace on.
Layer the lace on!
See I told you it was EASY!!
I kind of love it.
Ok. I really love it.

Leprechaun Trap: St. Patrick’s Day Fun For Kids
You know the story. Trap a Leprechaun and he (or she!) will turn over their pot of gold to you! But Leprechauns are tricky! You need a game plan. And you need to be prepared for a few tricks!
At our house we start setting traps for the pesky Leprechaun in the beginning of March. We make our trap (directions for our trap here.) and try luring him with a shiny, gold chocolate coin. Then it’s off to bed and hope to find something in our trap the next morning!
I’m not sure about at your house, but at our house it’s always the same thing. That sneaky Leprechaun always takes our bait…and avoids getting caught!!! Which always makes Mom a little annoyed because I ONLY buy the exact number of coins that we need. So this means I have to go to the store again to pick up some for the next night. Geez… 🙂
Not only does the Leprechaun take the coin, but he usually plays a trick! Last night was no exception!
The traps were laid….
Caleb even put a shiny red car our (which we thought was the perfect size for the Leprechaun!)
And Josh put out his DS. (Because Leprechauns love to play games!)
When we woke up the coin was gone… 
And his DS was covered in Shamrocks!
And so was the car!
I guess there is always tonight to try to trap them! I wonder what kind of tricks they will play tonight?
If the Leprechauns want to play at your house too….

And after all the tricking…on St. Patrick’s day they always end up giving all the gold coins back! 🙂

They are designed as 4X6. You can just save them on a flash drive and take them to your local Staples/Office Max and have them printed. (You can also email them directly to your store!) Our Leprechaun likes to write little notes on the back!

St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Hat DIY Craft Project For Kids!
If you are looking for a fun project to do with the kids for St. Patrick’s Day then this is the perfect project for you! These hats are easy to make and make great storage containers (perfect for a treat!) or in our case – perfect for trapping a leprechaun!
You will need:
Plastic containers – we used small Ziploc containers in the 1 cup size
Green paint – we used DecoArt Americana Pant in Leaf Green
Foam Brush
Construction Paper
Tape
I do highly recommend newspaper and an apron (which was put on shortly after this picture!) 
Coat the outside of the containers a nice pretty green.
And make sure to get the sides and the outside of the lids too!
The good news about this project is the paint dries really quickly! 🙂 Instant gratification…why yes!
We didn’t have black construction paper so we did what any other normal person would do and colored a piece of paper black. Cut out a yellow buckle and taped them on.
Then just tape the band around. EASY!
Set them out as decoration or fill it with a treat.
OR you can do what we like to do….
Turn it into a trap for those pesky leprechauns! Each night leading up to St. Patrick’s Day we set the trap (with a chocolate covered gold coin as bait!) But that tricky leprechaun always seems to steal the coin and ends up playing a trick! (Although on St. Patrick’s Day he always leaves a pile of gold coins behind in the hat!)
