Christmas At Simon Malls: Ice Skating, Santa and MORE!
Simon Malls are a hot spot for the holidays. I love shopping there as they always have all of the stores that we need meaning that I can cross everyone off our shopping list! But I really, really love the outside malls. Especially during the holidays. The stores all have their window displays up, trees are decorated and lights are up.
This year, there is so much more than just shopping though!
· The Rink at Hamilton Town Center: Open during mall operating hours from now until January 3, The Rink is a synthetic ice-skating experience for a new spin on a holiday tradition.
· Greenwood Park Mall’s Candy Cane Cottage Competition: The Greenwood Park Mall is inviting all families with children ages 12 and under to let their imagination run wild & create a completely edible gingerbread house, then submit their delicious creation to the mall management office now through Monday, November 19th for a chance to win.
· Fashion Mall at Keystone’s Breakfast with Santa: On November 17 from 9-11a.m. children and their families can visit Williams Sonoma and have a pancake breakfast with a visit from St. Nick.
· Hamilton Town Center’s Sweets with Santa: Help us welcome Santa and his crew to Hamilton Town Center on Saturday November 17th, from 4-6p.m. Celebrate the start of the holiday season with the arrival of Santa, Mrs. Claus’s Story Time, the lighting of the Tree and sweet holiday treats for children to decorate.
· Circle Centre’s Cookies and Cocoa: Join Santa for Cookies and Cocoa immediately following the Circle of Lights tree lighting on Friday, November 23rd, from 8:30-9:30p.m. in the Level 3 Dining Pavilion.
· All area Simon centers will be celebrating National Cookie Day on Tuesday, December 4 by handing out cookies either at the Santa sets, Guest Services or the Mall Office.
· Castleton Square Mall’s Disney Junior Play Date: Castleton Square Mall invites the community to a holiday-themed Disney Junior Play Date event. Aimed to entertain and delight children of all ages, the event will take place December 15 from 2-4p.m. in Center Court.
· Circle Centre’s Art of Holiday Window Displays: From November 23 to December 16, shoppers are invited to enjoy the Art of Holiday Window Displays sponsored by Downtown Indy, Inc. Local Artists show their holiday spirit and creativity by bringing street-level windows on Meridian and Washington Street to life.
The other day we headed over to Hamilton Town Center to check out the ice skating rink.
Getting set up was easy and the kids had so much fun skating across the ice.
None of our kids had ever been ice skating before, but it was simple enough for them to pick up quickly. There were two characters for them to push around to help get the hang of it.
Sometimes there were wipe outs.
But I think after the first time, the kids thought falling was fun. Who knew?
Shopping, skating and then out to eat made it for an awesome family night! (By the way, if you are at Hamilton Town Center, check out Chuy’s! Our kids gobbled up the chips and those homemade tortillas? YUM!!)
And don’t forget to end your night with pictures with Santa! There are even mailboxes to drop off your letters.
Castleton Square Mall, the Fashion Mall at Keystone and Greenwood Park Mall, have a sensory-friendly Caring Santa event working with Autism Speaks. Dates and times will vary prior to mall openings. YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE! If you know of a kiddo or have a kiddo who would benefit from this sensory-friendly Santa visit, please register! It is a safe way for all children on different spectrums of special needs to be able to visit with Santa. Donations for Autism Speaks will also be collected throughout the holiday season.
And finally, Pet Photo Night with Santa will occur at Castleton Square Mall on December 2 and Fashion Mall at Keystone and Greenwood Park Mall on December 9. Pet Photos are hosted after mall closing.
There is so much happening at Simon Malls this holiday season and there is truly something for everyone!

Disney Inspired Slime: Toy Story Little Green Men Slime + Toy Story 4 Trailer
We have more Disney inspired slimes and MORE Toy Story slimes! Don’t tell me that you missed our Toy Story Woody slime?! If you did, don’t worry you can check it out here.
Isn’t it the cutest? Well, yes, but our newest Toy Story inspired slime is pretty cute! I love the Little Green Men (“oooohhh the claw”) from the movies. And I couldn’t imagine having a Toy Story set of slimes without including them!
Before I share the tutorial on how to make alien slime, I HAVE to share with you more trailers from Disney’s Toy Story 4!
Toy Story is full of iconic characters who lovingly make reappearances throughout the movies. Toy Story 4 brings in a few new characters too! Woody’s journey in “Toy Story 4” includes a visit to a carnival where he meets Ducky and Bunny, two carnival prizes who are eager to be won. But when their plans are rudely interrupted by Woody and his friends, they find themselves on an unexpected adventure with a group of toys who have no idea what it feels like to be tacked to a prize wall.
Toy Story 4 is set to release June 21 2019!
If you are getting yourself ready like I am by watching all of the old Toy Story movies or if your kiddo is having a Toy Story party then this new Little Green Men slime is perfect for you!
A few things before you start:
- These are hands down the best containers for slime! Inexpensive and abundant. Plus a great size!
- We use Elmer’s Glue with all of our recipes. Different glues may take different amounts of ingredients.
Toy Story Alien Slime supplies:
- 5 oz clear glue
- 1/2 cup water
- Green coloring – I used soap colorant but you can use food coloring, paint, or pigment too!
- Green extra fine glitter
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp contact solution
- 3 googly eyes
- slime container
- blue construction paper
How to make Toy Story Alien Slime:
- In a container, pour 5 oz clear glue.
- Add 1/2 cup water and stir until the glue is completely broken down with the water.
- Add in your coloring. I used soap colorant in kiwi. I love using soap colorants! They are skin safe, don’t color your hands and available in a lot of different colors!
- Pour in some green glitter. I wanted a subtle glitter look so I used an extra fine green glitter. Mix well.
- Mix in 1/2 tsp of baking soda. Baking soda is going to determine the thickness of your slime.
- Add in a little less than 1 tbsp of contact solution (we use the saline solution just from Walmart!) and mix. It will begin to thicken instantly. Just keep stirring! I let mine sit for a minute to let the activator really get working.
- When it pulls away from the bowl, pull it out and knead. It may be sticky still. Knead it for a few minutes and if necessary add a little bit more contact solution. Be careful not to over activate it!
- Put in your slime container and add 3 googly eyes to the top.
- Cut a strip of blue construction paper to add to the slime container. I just taped mine in place.
There you go! Isn’t it adorable? Don’t forget to pin and to check out the new Toy Story 4 movie in theaters this June!

Toy Story Wood Inspired Slime + Toy Story 4 Teaser Trailer
YOU.GUYS. 2019 is looking to be an insane year for Disney. And just released, Toy Story 4!! If you are like me, the rest of the world and even director Josh Cooley, then you thought the end had already come and gone. Like most people, I assumed that ‘Toy Story 3’ was the end of the story,” said director Josh Cooley. “And it was the end of Woody’s story with Andy. But just like in life, every ending is a new beginning. Woody now being in a new room, with new toys, and a new kid, was something we have never seen before. The questions of what that would be like became the beginning of an entertaining story worth exploring.”
Everyone will be meeting again in Bonnie’s room including a new toy (who doesn’t think he’s a toy…) named Forky!
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.
To celebrate I have something AMAZING for you. Now, I have searched on Google, Pinterest and YouTube and I can’t find anything out there when it came to Toy Story Woody Slime. So, I took it upon myself to make it for you all. This would be THE cutest activity to go with your Toy Story movie marathon or getting ready for the new movie! Or if you are hosting a Toy Story party – these are adorable party favors or activities!
Before we start with our Toy Story Woody Slime a few important things:
- You can get bandannas on Amazon! This is a really adorable way to complete the look of your Woody slime. Plus, if you are doing for party favors or an activity it is a great way to ‘gift’ a great Woody accessory!
- I used acrylic paint for this project. Don’t worry, it doesn’t stain your hands! Paints are a great way of getting the perfect shade you are looking for.
- We used these containers for our slime! Pack of 50 and inexpensive? Yes please.
- Download our Woody Badges here! Print and top your slime containers!
To make the Toy Story Woody Slime you will need:
- 5 oz clear glue*
- 1/2 cup water*
- Yellow Paint
- Blue Paint
- Yellow Glitter
- Blue Glitter
- 1/2 tsp baking soda *
- 1 tbsp contact solution *
- Western flatback buttons (optional – out of the set I used the boot and badge. I found mine at Hobby Lobby. No Hobby Lobby? You can use these!)
- 1 slime container
- 1 Woody Badge (see above to download)
- 1 red bandanna
* You will need 2 of each of these supplies
How to make Toy Story Woody Slime:
- Pour 5 oz of glue in a container.
- Add 1/2 cup water and stir until the glue is broken down.
- Add a squirt of blue paint and stir.
- Pour in blue glitter and stir again.
- Add 1/2 tsp of baking soda and stir. The baking soda is going to determine the thickness of your slime.
- Add 1 tbsp of contact solution and stir. It will instantly begin to form. Continue to stir until it pulls away from the container.
- Knead the slime – it will be sticky at first. If needed, add a bit of contact solution. Contact solution will determine how sticky it is. It is easy to over activate so be careful!
- Repeat the process, this time with yellow paint and glitter.
- Swirl the two together.
- Put into a container.
- Tie a bandanna around it.
- Add charms (if using) and the Sheriff’s star.
Ta da!
Once you begin mixing your slime, it will turn colors so be sure not to over mix before adding to your container.
It ends up being a nice green color. Think Rex color!
This is just the first of our Toy Story slimes! Be on the look out for our Buzz Lightyear Galaxy slime, our camo toy soldier slime, the Little Green Men alien slime and SO many more! Not to mention our other Disney slimes that go with movies like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen …. and the list goes on and on!

4 Ingredient Cranberry Brie Bites Appetizer – Easy, Fancy & Delicious
Thanksgiving is IN A FEW DAYS y’all. I can’t believe it. I’m working over here on finalizing our menu (because I do it a few days in advance and definitely am not organized anytime before then…) I can tell you that these cranberry brie bites WILL BE ON THEM! Why? Because I’m a fan of several things. And this appetizer brings A LOT of those things together.
- Delicious food
- Easy to make
- CHEESE
- Impressive
- Brings everyone together
I’m all for easy things o make. Everyone knows that Dustin is the cook in our home. But even I can whip these cranberry brie bites up in a flash. Best yet, every time I make them or take them somewhere people ALWAYS say ‘Oh my gosh, these look good! So fancy!’
I don’t laugh because it’s not true! They are fancy. I laugh because they are SO stinking simple. Seriously, 4 ingredients and just a few minutes. Slice, drop and bake. And here I am looking like a fancy schmancy Suzy Homemaker. That my friends….is comical.
Pitch ins, company dinners, Thanksgiving, Christmas….a random Wednesday night dinner…these cranberry brie bites are good ANYTIME.
You can make them in a regular muffin tin for 12 larger ‘bites’ or if you want a true bite size appetizer, use a mini muffin tin.
I promise. One bite and you will be making these ALL the time! Ready for our easy, four ingredient recipe?
1
crescent dough
1 can
whole cranberry sauce
1 wheel
Brie-
fresh rosemary
Servings: large bites
-
Lightly flour a counter top.
-
Roll out a sheet of crescent dough. If you can’t find the whole sheets, you can use the crescent rolls, just pinch the perforated lines to make them whole.
-
Using a knife or pizza cutter, slice into 12 pieces. If using a mini muffin tin for tiny bites, cut the dough into 24 pieces.
-
Spray a muffin tin with cooking spray. Put each square of dough into the pan making sure that it forms a bit of a bowl.
-
Next, slice your cheese into 12 pieces. I cut the rind of mine, but you can leave it on if you wish. It is edible and a bit of personal preference! If using the mini pan, cut each slice in half.
-
Add one slice of cheese into each dough ‘bowl’.
-
Open a can of whole cranberry sauce. Spoon some on top of each piece of cheese.
-
Lastly, lay a bit of fresh rosemary on top of each one.
-
Bake in the oven at 375 for 12-15 minutes.
-
Serve warm.
That’s it!! I told you that these cranberry brie bites were so easy! Serve them in a basket or on a platter for a simple, but elegant and of course delicious appetizer. It really can’t get much simpler than this!
Don’t forget to pin our cranberry brie bites! And as always, if you make them, be sure to let us know how much you and your family enjoyed them!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Pumpkin Spice Latte Slime
Yes. We. Did. Do. That.
Calling all fall fans. We have managed to make the most iconic fall drink into an amazing slime that you (and your kids!) will LOVE! Oh and did I mention that it really smells delicious?
Now, this slime is actually a combination of two different slime recipes. A mix of our classic slime recipe and a fluffy version. But don’t worry, they are both really easy to make!
Now, before we get started, there are a few special things that you will need for this slime.
- Pumpkin Spice fragrance oil
- Coffee fragrance oil
- Classic caramel acrylic paint
- Coffee Latte acrylic paint
- Brown acrylic paint
And containers. You can use a ziploc baggie, but they are hard and don’t work as well. I really recommend these containers. They are a great size, super cheap and keep the slime in great shape for playing with later!
Ingredients to make pumpkin spice latte slime:
Ingredients:
- 1 airtight container
- 1 cup white glue
- 1 cup shaving cream
- 1 cup foaming hand wash
- ¾ tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp contact solution
- 5 oz clear glue
- ½ cup water
- ½ tsp baking soda
- Acrylic paint: latte, caramel, and brown
- 1 tbsp contact solution
- Pumpkin pie scented fragrance
- Coffee scented fragrance
- Brown glitter
- Small bowl
How to make pumpkin spice latte slime:
- In a bowl, measure out 1 cup white glue.
- Add 1 cup shaving cream. Shaving cream is a little funky to measure so a little extra won’t hurt it! 🙂
- Mix together and add 1 cup of foaming hand wash.
- Mix well. Your slime should be super foamy.
- Add in 1 tsp of cornstarch and about 1 tsp of body lotion. These will help your slime stretch and be fluffy.
- Next add in ¾ – 1 tsp of baking soda. (Start with ¾ of a tsp and add more during kneading if you need to. Baking soda is what will thicken your slime up.)
- Finally, add in contact saline solution. Start with 1 tbsp. If you need to add a bit more, you can. Saline solution makes the slime less sticky. You will know you have enough when the slime pulls away from the side of the bowl.
- Knead the slime.
- Set aside. This will be the whipped topping to your pumpkin spice latte.
- In a small bowl, pour 5 oz of clear glue.
- Add ½ cup of water and stir.
- Sprinkle in ½ tsp baking soda .
- Add a few drops of both pumpkin pie and coffee fragrance oils. Stir.
- Add acrylic paint. I used a mix of latte, caramel and brown.
- Sprinkle in brown glitter.
- Stir well.
- Add 1 tsp of contact solution. Stir and then knead.
- If the slime needs to be thickened, add a bit more baking soda. If the slime needs to be less sticky, add more contact solution.
- Layer your brown coffee slime and top with a fluffy whipped topping slime swirl.
When you swirl your slime together, it reminds me of the cool coffee designs with the swirls.
I have to say, this pumpkin spice latte slime is one of my favorites that we have made. It smells amazing. And the two different textures make it super fun to play with!

Chocolate Scented Birthday Cake Slime
Happy birthday! Not your birthday? Well, you might be ready to celebrate after this scented chocolate birthday cake slime! It’s fluffy, smells like chocolate and covered with ‘sprinkles’.
It’s no surprise that we make a LOT of slime around here. But we also give a lot of slime as gifts! They are simple, not expensive and kids love them! Whether you make the slime to celebrate a birthday or give for a gift this scented chocolate birthday cake slime is always a hit!
This slime is super stretchy, very soft and fluffy and best of all… scented! That’s right, it smells like real chocolate! And while it smells like chocolate and looks like a cake batter, remember that it is not for eating.
A few things before we get started. There are a few special supplies that you will need:
- Glue – This recipe uses plain, white glue. We use Elmer’s glue. Other glues should work, but we have best results with Elmer’s. All of the ingredient measurements are made with this glue. It sounds crazy but different brands of glue sometimes have different measurements of the slime ingredients. If your kiddos go through a lot of slime (and who doesn’t?) the gallons are definitely the best way to go! There are two packs available online too. If you are planning on giving slime as a gift, bundling it with a gallon of glue makes for a fantastic, inexpensive gift.
- Saline Solution – We’ve tried several different contact solutions, but this one always works best for us. Bonus: It’s the cheapest. If you have a Walmart near you, I would get it there as it is much more expensive online (which is weird!).
- Foam Beads – These are our ‘sprinkles’. These beads can be used to make floam or a crunchy slime too. Fun, fun, fun.
- Chocolate fragrance oil – YUM. This smells just like chocolate! If you have a mini-slime master, you may want to pick up a variety pack of fragrance oils. This variety pack has the chocolate in it. This company has SO many awesome scents to chose from.
Here is what you will need to make our scented chocolate birthday cake slime:
- 1 airtight container (for storage)
- 1 cup white glue
- 1 cup shaving cream
- 1 cup foaming hand wash
- ¾ tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp contact solution
- Foam beads
- Chocolate scented fragrance
- Brown acrylic paint
- Small bowl
How to make our scented chocolate birthday cake slime:
- In a bowl, measure out 1 cup white glue.
- Add 1 cup shaving cream. Shaving cream is a little funky to measure so a little extra won’t hurt it! 🙂
- Mix together and add 1 cup of foaming hand wash.
- Mix well. Your slime should be super foamy.
- Add in brown paint until you get the perfect chocolate color.
- Add in 1 tsp of cornstarch and about 1 tsp of body lotion. These will help your slime stretch and be fluffy.
- Drop a few drops of chocolate fragrance oil in. Your slime will smell just like a delicious cake – and it looks like a fluffy blob of icing! While it smells and looks, make sure it is not tasted!
- Pour in a few multi-colored foam beads. You don’t want a ton as these are just the ‘sprinkles’ and don’t want it to turn into a crunchy slime or foam but add to your heart’s desire. They will be hard to see, but when your slime ‘stretches’
- Sprinkle foam beads on top.
- Store in an airtight container.
This scented chocolate birthday cake slime is one of my kids favorites to make and play with. I can’t wait for you to try making it at home!

Holiday Conversation Cards For Kids

Holidays have a tendency of getting away from you sometimes. There always seems like there are two hundred things to do, but only time to do about fifty of them. Shopping, cooking, cleaning, wrapping, photos, cards, planning, calling and the list goes on and on. And, as if your to do list wasn’t long enough, kids are on break and sometimes it is just too dang cold to be outside.
Long story short…we are busy. And I know if I’m busy in my home, then you are busy too! But one thing that we like to make sure of no matter how busy we are is that everyone is eating a good breakfast and we have a little bit of time to spend it as a family.
No matter if that means breakfast is sitting at the table together or if we are grabbing a breakfast to go as we race to cross off things on our to do list for the day. Eating together is important for me. Which means that I need yummy food that I can serve my family.
Our whole house is obsessed with Odom’s Tennessee Pride Sausage & Gravy Stuffed Biscuits! They only take about a minute to make, which is a HUGE mom win!
Our kids are also big fans of Odom’s Tennessee Pride Sausage & Egg Cheese Stuffed Biscuits. Cheesy goodness.
You can find both of the Odom’s Tennessee Pride Stuffed Biscuits at Walmart. Which works out perfectly since you know that you will be there crossing off everything on your holiday shopping list from gifts to food! (Psst! If you haven’t tried out Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup Service, do yourself a favor and try it! It makes your shopping SO simple!) You can find lots of yummy easy food ideas here!
I’m a huge believer in the fact that good food brings along good conversation. So to help, I created a few fun free printable conversation cards for the holidays! You can download them here!
Simply print and cut and you are ready for some fun.
There is a pack of Thanksgiving conversation cards with things like ‘Pumpkin pie or apple pie?’ and ‘Give the person on your right a compliment.’
These cards would be perfect not just for while you are eating breakfast, but they would be perfect for printing for your Thanksgiving table for people to grab or to use with your name cards!
There is also a pack for Christmas filled with fun questions for kids and adults alike! Some sample questions include ‘What is one thing on your Christmas list?’ and ‘Hot chocolate or eggnog?’
Our kids loved the Odom’s Tennessee Pride Sausage & Gravy Stuffed Biscuits so much, we are thinking about having a few boxes of them for Christmas morning. You know, when the kids get up way before it should legally be allowed to classify as Christmas morning? Yep. These may make my life so much easier! And we will totally bust out our conversation cards!
What kind of cookies do you think are Santa’s favorite? Hmmm….I think Santa loves a good sugar cookie. With the sugar crystal sprinkles. What about you?

Pledge To Thank A Veteran!
Disclosure: This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #DogChowDifference #CollectiveBias
As a parent, there are a few things that I try very hard to teach my children. One of them is gratitude and another is appreciation. We strive to implement them in our everyday life. One thing that I am passionate about is making sure that our Veterans know that we appreciate them and how gracious we are of their service. My son’s father is a Veteran, my brother is in the service and we have countless friends (that we are lucky enough to consider family!) also who have sacrificed their time and dedicated their lives for our freedom.
I wish that I had about 60 hours in each day, but the reality is that I don’t. So we do what we can. There is no shame in that! And sometimes inspiration hits me when I least expect it. Like when I am shopping for dog food.
We are lucky enough to have a Dollar General literally at the end of our street. Talk about convenient! We are there all the time. It’s so nice to be able to take a few minutes and walk together (or grab one of the kids) and just spend a few minutes talking and walking. Those few minutes really add to our quality time. Sometimes, we grab the dogs and walk over to do a bit of shopping. We are at Dollar General SO often that everyone knows not only our names, but our dogs’ names too.
I ran in to grab some dog food. We really enjoy shopping at Dollar General not only because of the convenient location, but also because of how clean and easy to find everything is in our store. I can run in, know exactly where to find things and quickly be out the door heading home. Plus they offer great promotions!
Right now, Dollar General has teamed up with Purina® Dog Chow® to support our military vets with every purchase of specially marked bags of Purina® Dog Chow®.
And even more, on October 10th, you can take advantage of 11% savings on Purina® Dog Chow® at Dollar General! The offer is available in-store and online. Low prices and our favorite brands? WINNING!
So once we got home with our Purina® Dog Chow® my mind was twirling. I was so happy to support a great cause and with a purchase that I feel good about giving our dogs. We see Vets all the time and my kids are awesome at thanking them for their service. Creating little cards has been on my mind for a while. I got to work immediately! Well, after the dogs got fed!
If you follow us, then you know all about Lincoln and George, but a few months ago we adopted Stella too. Three rescue dogs in all now. We go through A LOT of dog food. I love Purina® Dog Chow® for a lot of reasons.

- Why does Purina care so much? Because the food we make isn’t just for your dog, it’s for ours, too.
And, our dogs absolutely love it!
So while the dogs were chowing down, I whipped up these fun little cards to thank a Veteran!
Didn’t they come out cute?
I’m super excited for us to use these cards to thank a Veteran! Super handy and if I don’t say so myself, super cute!
The idea behind them is that you can sign them if you want or even add a gift card if you desire, but mostly to print off and keep in your purse, so when you see a Military member you can hand them one and say thank you.

These cards are an easy way, even as a busy family, that you can remember to thank a member for their service! I hope that you join us in thanking our Vets for their service! These little cards to thank a veteran should make it nice, easy and handy! And don’t forget about October 10th at Dollar General to save big on Purina® Dog Chow®!
