Host A Family Dance Party
It’s November and already bitter cold in Indiana. Colder than we are used to right now! And while we aren’t getting 6 feet of snow (thank goodness!) we have been getting some. I’m not sure if it’s because I just got back from Florida or jut because we usually don’t get snow this early, but I am not ready!! At all!
So what are you going to do when it’s too cold to go outside? Well there really is only one thing you can do…
I was so glad that I had received the new Just Dance 2015 video game in the mail to review. Can you say perfect timing? We have had Just Dance video games before and they have always been a hit. It’s a great way for the whole family to get up and play together and have fun. Not to mention to stay active! Those dance moves will have you burning some calories!
Just Dance 2015 was no exception. It came with an all new playlist of songs including new popular hits like “Problem” by Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea and “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. It also had classic favorites like “Walk This Way” by Run DMC & Aerosmith and maybe this stuck in the 90’s mom’s favorite, The Macarena. Oh yes.
There was also Let it Go from Frozen and while Sydney and I danced to it, the boys simply cried out ewwww! It’s Frozen. Boys. What do they know? 🙂
This is a great game for families to play together because up to four people can dance at once together. If you are playing with less, you do have the option with connecting online to play with other people around the world which is cool too.
And I REALLY love the fact that Ubisoft has teamed up with Stomp Out Bullying to “show that everyone can dance to their own beat!” How true! When we play this game, we all look silly. We didn’t know any of the moves and we well, I don’t exactly look like Katy Perry out there dancing! But how you look dancing doesn’t matter! It’s all about having fun! And luckily, that’s an awesome lesson to carry out in other aspects of life. The fun songs and sometimes silly choreography lets you really let loose and just have fun.
Here is a quick video of the boys dancing and their review of Just Dance 2015 video game!
Josh gave it a 4 1/2 out of 5 stars and Caleb gave it 4 1/4 stars. Unless it was a song that he won. Then it was a full 5 stars. 🙂
Want to have your own family dance party? I created some fun, free printables for you to hand out! Everyone is a winner when it comes to a Family Dance Party! Feel free to save these to your computer and print at home or send them to your local office supply store and they can print them for you! In our Dance Party, Sydney won the Disco Queen, Josh was awarded Happy Feet and Caleb was for sure our Sir Dance-A-Lot winner.
We will definitely be having more family dance parties in our future! You can order Just Dance 2015 from Amazon (click here!) and have a party of your own!

LG OLED now at Best Buy
Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love everything about it from the decorations to the Christmas cheer. I also really love gift giving. There is something about finding that perfect gift for someone. It’s usually harder for me to wait with anticipation for Christmas to actually get here and the recipients can open their gift then it is for me to wait to open gifts for myself. I love watching them unwrap their gifts and the look on their face when they see their perfect gift.
Best Buy is one of my favorite places to get gifts. They really have everything that anyone on my shopping list could ever want! Last week I was in my local Best Buy searching for gift ideas and I found one that I know will be a huge hit! (And if anyone is interested, I would love one too!)
Ready? An LG OLED TV!
LG’s new technology, the LG OLED TV, features the absolute best color and picture imaginable. It also is less than a quarter of an inch thick. Yes, you read that right!
Plus:
· Infinite contrast ratio and stunning color – delivers more natural, lifelike viewing.
· 4 Color Pixel technology enhances color range and accuracy.
· Super thin design
· Find content faster with webOS
The coloring on this is nothing short of amazing. Once you watch a movie on this you will wonder how you have managed to live without one for all of this time! You can guarantee your house will become THE place for people to want to watch football games and movies!
I can’t think of a more amazing gift for someone on your list or for a family gift! You will be able to watch home movies or just movies with your family! We love to watch movies together. It’s time for us to sit together, make some popcorn, and laugh. It’s a night that my family looks forward to each week. I think that this would be the ultimate gift for us!
You can find the LG OLED TV and so many other awesome holiday gifts at your local Best Buy.
Love Twitter Parties? Best Buy is hosting an LG OLED Twitter Party on Thursday December 4th at 7PM CST. Feel free to join this party for a chance to receive Best Buy gift cards and other great prizes. Tweet #HintingSeason with your top gifts that you want this Holiday from Best Buy.
Who on your shopping list would you buy the LG OLED TV for?
The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free
An Introduction to Florida Wines with East Coast Winery
Let’s start with my favorite wine of the evening. (A big thank you to East Coast Winery for introducing us to these great wines!)
Key Limen
If you asked me to name a food that Florida is famous for Key Lime Pie would definitely be one of my first answers. (Speaking of Key Lime Pie … we had the most amazing pie over at Rusty’s!) I don’t care if you are in the middle of a snow storm, one sip of this and you will immediately feel like you have escaped to a tropical beach.
If you like margaritas you will love this. This wine has won several awards including: Best of Show Gold Medal at the Florida State Fair, Double Gold at the Indiana International Wine Competition and the Epicot International Food and Wine Festival Selection in 2001, 2010 and 2011.
Hurricane Class 5
This was a close one. The Hurricane Class 5 was probably one of the best things I’ve tasted! I really loved it. I also can’t wait to order a bottle to have some again. This wine is a really awesome blend of different wines and different fruits to make the most amazing white sangria. This is uniquely Florida! Also an award winner, this wine has won Best of Show and Double Gold Florida State Fair as well as Best of Class & Concordance Gold at the Indiana International Wine Competition.
Florida wines are known for using a variety of fruits to create amazing flavors like Cocoa Beach which is a blend of orange juice and a rich dark chocolate syrup. Oh yes. It’s good. Coco Polada is a blend of coconut, orange and pineapple. Can you think of anything better?
There are so many different wines native to the state of Florida. Make sure to like East Coast Winery on Facebook and let them know if you would like to order any bottles of Florida Wine to have a little Florida sunshine at your home!

#ShareAwesome Kids & Technology
I don’t know about your house, but ours is consumed with technology. You lead by example right? Well, being a blogger I am on the computer a LOT. And if I’m not on the computer I’m on my phone. My son sees me everyday, using social media and embracing (and sometimes yelling at…) technology.
We went to a meeting at his school at the beginning of the school year to talk about iPads. This was the first year that the kids were required to have them. The parents had a meeting in one room and the kids had a meeting in another to discuss things like social media. Well, one of the things that they taught the kids about was using their real names and posting pictures of themselves. My son apparently raised his hand and said, “Unless your mom is a blogger. I’m kind of famous on Pinterest.” Yes. My child is very proud of a picture of him from the blog that went a little viral on Pinterest.
My son see’s me using my blog and social media outlets and he wants to do it too! He loves video games, so we just bought him his own domain name (Josh The Gamer) and he wants to start creating YouTube videos. Do I think it’s awesome? Absolutely! Blogging is a great way to work on writing skills. I think in this day in age knowing a bit about coding and how to create a website is a big plus! And let’s talk about the skills required to learn to shoot and edit videos. Heck, deep down, I’m hoping he will teach me a thing or two!
Am I nervous? Absolutely. The internet can be a cruel and disturbing place. People say things that they would never say in person. There are people who thrive on drama and actually go looking for people to pick on, to belittle and to try to make them look/feel stupid. (There is a reason people like that are called trolls!) There are people who will steal your work. There are predators who do gosh only knows what. One bad decision can haunt you for literally a lifetime.
But I don’t think that is reason for hiding or avoiding this amazing digital world we are entering. National PTA has joined forces with Lifelock to share awesome ways that families can create open conversations about using technology. I think that it is so important to not only talk to your kids about it, but to be involved! The #ShareAwesome campaign wants to teach kids and parents that no matter what app, device or social media platform you are using, the safety rules are the same as they would be offline (like ‘Don’t talk to strangers!)
The #ShareAwesome campaign also wants to celebrate families and kids who use technology for good. There is a #ShareAwesome contest that invites you on social media to share a smart and safe decision, an uplifting accomplishment or a positive action for the good of others using the hashtag #ShareAwesome the chance to win!
Be sure to snap a photo of an awesome moment in your day and share it on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the #ShareAwesome hashtag!
Students who enter the #ShareAwesome contest between September 15 – November 30, 2014 will have a chance to win fantastic prizes, including tablets and a $2,500 scholarship!
For our home, we embrace social media (as well as life outside of it!) However I have access and passwords to everything. (And I mean EVERYTHING!) Josh is not allowed to add new friends until I check them out first. Usually I follow them too. All of his emails that get sent to him also get sent to my account. We are embracing this new digital age, but making sure that it is still a child friendly, safe digital space.

Staying Active When The Weather Turns Cold
Is it snowing where you live? It is here. And the cold weather and ice is all coming with it. YUCK. Well, let me admit that while I love waking up to a white Christmas, the actual everyday battle against the winter is not my idea of fun.
It’s hard some days just to get myself out of my nice, warm bed early on a frosty morning. It’s dark! And cold! And while taking a long, hot shower sounds delightful the thought of getting out of the shower does not.
For me, winter is hard to stay active. I would rather cozy up, sit by the fire and drink my hot cocoa. (Don’t judge! You know that sounds amazing!) But staying active year around is important.
- Go play! Remember when you were little and you would go out and play in the snow for as long as you could? Sledding, tubing, skiing and snowballs were all part of your snow day plan. Being out in the snow can quickly burn a lot of calories. Go hang out with the kids! Ski (no hills? Try cross country skiing!), hit the best sledding hill in town (and that walk back up will help burn those calories too!) or go ice skating. Yes, it’s cold. But after a few minutes of having fun the frosty air will be the last thing on your mind.
- Start a home workout Working out at home is great and you don’t need a lot of equipment. Try doing your own ‘cross-fit’ style workout with a mix of burpees, wall sits and other exercises. Try out yoga (my favorite!) Heck, you can even pick out a new video game! We have the Wii-U and we have been having a lot of fun playing the Zumba and Just Dance games. It’s a lot of fun that we can all have together.
- Remember that everything counts And that includes things like shoveling the driveway. Because I know that you were trying to think of something positive to say about it!
- Get Creative
Grab your friends and head to your local Meijer store to walk around. Retail therapy? Sure. But also, just getting out and walking! Walk a few laps around the store before you start filling your cart. Those extra steps will add up!
And while you are at Meijer, be sure to check out SOS. This is a really delicious drink mix that you can add to your bottle of water to flavor it. But it’s not just good for flavor! This drink was created by a doctor and two professional athletes to combat mild to moderate dehydration. It’s great for drinking after a workout! And the packets make it easy to slip in your gym bag or purse.
Why should you drink SOS?
- SOS provides THREE times the amount of electrolytes than the average sports drink and it has half the sugar AND half of the calories of coconut water.
- It helps you absorb more water than just drinking it alone. Three times more water!
- It’s medically proven.
- It tastes delicious! I tried the Citrus flavor, but there are other flavors available too.
- You can learn more here!
You can find SOS products at your local Meijer.
How do you stay active in the winter?
This was a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Meijer and SOS. All opinions are my own.
Petz Beach Cupcakes
Last year’s school year was tough for us. We moved after the first 9 weeks and suddenly Josh went from elementary school to middle school. From a small school that was project based to a large, traditional school. We inherited lockers and changing classes. It was a lot to take in. Especially for a child who suffers from Autism. Josh’s grades fell drastically, which for someone as smart as he is, this was a first. Luckily, we made it through. And a few weeks ago, the first report card came. And it was Honor Roll! WOO HOO! And, because I’m a proud Mom, his reading test came back. Josh is reading at over an 11th grade level! He’s only in 6th grade! Awesome right? Well, we had to celebrate.
It was perfect timing because I was given the chance to review the new Petz Beach 3DS game. So before Josh came home from school I decided to make some special cupcakes to help reveal his ultimate surprise. The new 3DS game!
These cupcakes were just about as easy as you can get. Just a simple box mix with store brought frosting. I divided the white frosting in half, tinting one half blue and leaving the other half white. To create the sand, we just crushed up some Golden Oreos. The consistency was perfect sand.
I started with the beach side. Just frost half of the cupcake with the white frosting and roll in the Oreo crumbs. Then using a butter knife, frost the other side with the blue frosting. We like our water side to have lots of waves, which is good since I’m not a very good cupcake decorator. But even I can manage creating some choppy waves! Then, a couple Teddy Grahms relaxing on the beach and your cupcakes are ready! Quick and easy! And of course delicious!
Josh was pretty excited about his cupcake, but afterwards when I gave him his new 3DS game, he was very excited!
We have had several Petz games over the years so we were excited to add this one to our collection. There were several things that I felt like were really cool (and so did Josh!) One of which was that there were so many choices of animals. This game had everything from dolphins to puppy dogs.
Another thing I loved was the fact that while he was playing he was also learning really great facts about animals thanks to Petz partnership with Encyclopaedia Britannica.
This is a game that will last and entertain your kids for a long time. The game actually expands while they play giving them so much to do and learn. You can also connect it to play with friends which is a big plus for us!
Petz Beach would make for an awesome holiday gift this year. (You can purchase it from Amazon here!) They have also come out with Petz Countryside which is another fun adventure kids are sure to love!
Petz Beach & Petz Countryside Product Specifications:
- Publisher: Ubisoft
- Release Date: October 14, 2014
- Platform: Nintendo 3DS system
- Category: Pet Simulation and Adventures
- Rating: E

Tuckaway Shores Resort – A Look at Our Room & View
(Thanks Heidi for the photo!)
When I arrived at the Tuckaway Shores Resort, I was immediately greeted by Jacqui who is the Inn Keeper. Not only was she so incredibly friendly, but she was so knowledgeable about everything that the Space Coast area has to offer. As you will see in the posts to come, the Space Coast is a MUST stop if you come to Florida!
The resort from the outside is what you would call ‘Authentic Florida’. It’s what Florida used to look like before mile high hotels were built.
There are about 30 rooms, plus a heated pool, grilling area (with a Big Green Egg!), indoor gathering place, and of course, the beach. I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I walked inside my room, but I was for sure blown away!
The rooms at Tuckaway Shores Resort are so much better than your traditional, newer hotel.
- The rooms are large. Not only do you have a nice, large bedroom with plenty of storage, but there is also plenty of room to play, relax and hang out with your family and friends in your living room.
- Two words: A kitchen. Vacation expenses can add up quickly. Especially eating out. Save yourself some time (and headache!) by visiting one of the many local grocery stores and bringing back things like cereals, sandwich supplies or even grilling supplies. If nothing else, you have room to store drinks and snacks for your visit.
- Two more words: That view! The picture above was taken right off my balcony. It honestly seemed like when you stood in your living room that you were standing right in the middle of the beach.
I spent my entire trip there with those big huge doors wide open just soaking up the view and the sounds of the ocean! Can you tell which room was mine? 🙂
- Relaxation. I always enjoy staying in hotels (well, almost always), but Tuckaway was completely different. I loved it. I felt like I went away to a home away from home. It’s a smaller building which means you aren’t one of the crowd. And when you do see someone, the staff knows your name and are so personable that it is more of running into a friend.
The beach is more secluded and private then you would find at any high-rise. You won’t have to worry about fighting for a spot on the beach here!
- These rooms are so incredibly clean. Tuckaway Shores is part of the Superior Small Lodging Association which has a 100 point checklist that it goes through with an announced visit. It’s also the winner of the White Glove Award which means, you guessed it, a white glove was used on all the tops of the cabinets, picture frames, etc and it came out clean. It has won this prestigious award every year for the past 5 years. I don’t know about you, but I know my house has some areas that I would not want a white glove testing! 🙂
- It’s affordable. With everything that you get including those views, direct ocean access and superior service you would think that it would be really expensive, but it’s not. Tuckaway Shores Resort has a price range from $125 – $145 a night. Plus, good for one year, you can use the code BLOG to get 20% off your booking. (Tuckaway also offers discounts for Florida residents, Active Military, First Responders, AAA Members and many more. Click here to see all discounts available.)
I can’t wait to share with you more from my amazing trip to Florida’s Space Coast!

UE Boom Review – The Ultimate Gift For Music Lovers
This year I have been working hard on finding perfect gifts for a few hard to buy for people on this year’s list. You know the ones….tweens and teens. You ask them what they want and they say things like “cash” or “gift cards.” While these are great options, I am a gift giver. I love it. I love thinking up the perfect gift. I love wrapping it up. And I love watching it get opened and the recipient’s face. There is something so fun about getting that perfect gift. And I have found it! Logitech has a great wireless speaker called UE Boom and I am in love.
First, can we talk about the packaging?
Your speaker will come in a tube that kind of reminds me of a tube you use at the bank drive thru.
Not only is this create a safe way for your wireless speaker to ship, it makes for a cool presentation.
There are two compartments, one above and one below and it contains the charging cord and wall charger.
Using the speaker is so easy. Just simply turn on the blue tooth on your device (I used my phone, but you can also use your tablet or computer.) Then hold on the power button on the speaker and it will connect. That’s it!
There is a large plus and minus on the front that are not only cool looking, but will control the volume.
And speaking of volume. This little speaker can pack some serious sound! The sound is really amazing. It’s only a great size to go with you on the go. Speakers are water and stain resistant which means they are perfect for taking on trips, to the beach, the pool, even just to the bathroom to listen to while you shower. And this wireless speaker will last up to 15 hours on a single charge! WOW!!
Another fun thing about the UE Boom is the variety of colors. They even have some patterned speakers!
You can get a high quality, fun speaker for under $200. This is one of my top gift ideas this year! We are big UE Boom fans!
I received a UE Boom in exchange for my honest opinion for this post. All opinions are 100% my own.
5 Things You Need For Holiday Entertaining
We all love company, but sometimes the preparing of company can be a little stressful. Here is a list of 5 things that you should have on hand and ready for guests to arrive!
- Food One of my favorite tricks is to have a little something in the freezer ready to go. I make a really great lasagna. So when I make dinner, I just make an extra one and put it in the freezer. Lasagna is a great choice because not only is it delicious, but it will feed a crowd! When I have friends and family over that I haven’t seen in a while, the last thing I want to be doing is to be spending my time away from them and in the kitchen. Having a pre-made meal means they get something homemade and I don’t have to worry about it!
- Some extra toiletries Not only can it be stressful for the host to get ready for company, but visiting can be stressful for the traveler as well! I know that when I am getting ready to leave for a trip, I can check and double check my things and it seems like I always end up forgetting something. Keep a few extra things on hand for these kinds of emergencies like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, razor, shampoo, etc. And as a bonus: If no one uses them this time, they won’t expire!
- Electronic Help When you have a guest coming over help them out with their electronics! I keep an extra one of our cell phone chargers in the spare room. I tell our guests to not even take theirs out so they don’t have to worry about forgetting it. I also write down our wifi password and have it ready for them so they don’t have to ask or go searching.
- Extra blankets and pillows It’s always a smart idea to have a few extra pillows and blankets available. Everyone is used to something different on their beds. Some are used to lots of pillows, some not so many. Some are used to their rooms being very cool and some people may come in for the holidays from a warmer climate and need an extra blanket. Just by setting out some extras can really go the extra mile for your guests.
- Febreze Oh yes! This is a must! Febreze offers so many items in so many different scents. The Febreze Holiday Collection has perfect scents that are designed to get everyone smelling the holidays!
Just smelling the scents like pine and winter, vanilla and sugar, or apple and spice will get you in the holiday mood.
Febreze was nice enough to send me a wonderful (and adorable!) box of Febreze Holiday Collection products and some really fun holiday ideas!
There were so many recipes, home décor ideas and DIY projects that are perfect and so fun in my box. But these scents! They have me singing Holiday songs and put a little holiday pep in my step. You can find the Febreze Holiday Collection at Walmart. They are just perfect for getting your house ready for your holiday guests!
This post is sponsored by Febreze. I was compensated for this post, however all opinions and thoughts are 100% my own.
