Moms Check In – What Will You Hand Out For Halloween This Year?
Can you believe that Halloween is so close? Eeek! Me either! This week we want to know, what do you hand out for Halloween?
And don’t forget, next Thursday (10/16) from 1-2 PM we will be having a Twitter Party with UNICEF and HSN! There will be some pretty amazing prizes – over $300 worth! Be sure to RSVP here!
I go for the good stuff! But honestly, it’s probably more for selfish reasons than anything. I buy lots of candy “just in case” which really means so when we don’t use it all I can claim it. I’m a big fan of Kit Kats, Twix and Milky Way. YUM!! 🙂

We give out candy, and sadly it’s usually candy that I like so I munch on it before Halloween…which usually means I need to go buy another bag before the trick-or-treaters get here. You’d think I’d learn my lesson, but apparently not. Those Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups just cannot be denied!
– Lindsay is the mom of 2 and author of See Mom Click. She shares great deals, Disney happenings and recipes. You can follow her on Twitter here!
When I was a kid it was a big deal to get mini chocolate bars for trick or treat so that’s what I give out. I may or may not have to sample a few of them.

Did you know that while your child is out collecting candy this year that they can be helping to save the lives of children around the world? Trick or Treat for UNICEF started in 1950 as a way for kids to help kids. Since then, children have taken UNICEF collection boxes (you can get one for free here) with them trick or treating collecting change for this amazing cause! Since 1950 children have raised over $170 million dollars while trick or treating!
This year UNICEF has made fundraising even easier! In addition to taking the iconic boxes with you while trick or treating you also have the option of creating an online fundraising page. In just a few seconds, you can set up a Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF fundraising page to share with friends and family. The money you raise will help save and protect children by providing clean water, nutritious food, lifesaving vaccines and more. Because some kids need more than candy.
Don’t forget that next Thursday, 10/16 from 1-2 PM Eastern we will be having an #EasyToGive #UNICEF Twitter Party! You will want to be sure to RSVP to be eligible for one of 5 amazing prizes (Over $325 worth!) from HSN! RSVP here!

We give out candy & it’s the good stuff. I don’t want my house to get egged for handing out lousy candy 😉

I am not sure what we are handing out this year, had not even thought about it yet. My sister took everything we got as kids so I never had a favorite growing up unless I found a way to hide it when she was not looking.
Kristen from The Road to Domestication says
I have been buying candy for weeks now, as we have HUNDREDS of kids that parade through our neighborhood! It’s madness, I tell you! I’ve never heard of Trick or Treat for UNICEF, but it sounds amazing!

Halloween isn’t such a big thing here so we don’t give anything out – we do try and watch a scary movie and have a take out for ourselves though. x

We have chocolate candies this year in body part shapes. We are also participating in the “teal pumpkin” which states that you have allergy friendly options such as stickers or tattoos, etc for those with food allergies.

My husband likes to give out the good candy that he likes best. Of course this year he’s joking about being “that guy” and handing out raisins.

I’m not sure what I am handing out this year yet. It will be a mix of candy and non candy treats. I always wait until the last minute to get something.

I can’t believe that Halloween is right around the corner. I am so not ready as I still have to get the kids their costumes.

We have handed out the same candy for years now. Someone down the street gives out king size candy bars, so they’re the most popular on the block.
Amanda says
King Size? Wow! They are much cooler than I am! 🙂
Heather says
I’ve already bought all of my candy. We give it lots of chocolate bars and I have full size snickers.

We lived out in the country for 20 years before moving to a different state so we never had trick or treaters and I hated it. Now we moved into a new house on a regular street with only a few houses and we STILL don’t get trick or treaters I am so bummed about it!

We just moved and I have no idea how many kids to expect on Halloween. I am going to get some chocolate bars and chips. I will buy lots in case we get a few kids and then we can eat any extras.

I love the idea of featuring five moms and interviewing them about their perspectives. Just brilliant!

I always give out mini chocolate bars and some kind of lollipops or novelty treats. I can’t buy any candy until Halloween day, though, because otherwise I’ll eat it all before the doorbell starts ringing.

We go all out with the decorations, so we feel we have to pass out the good stuff. Though, I do admit to getting excited when there is left overs at the end of the night so I can stake claim to it 🙂

My daughter will eat the ‘good stuff’ in her basket right away. My son will still have some left at Christmas, lol. Same thing happens every year. 😉

Love this round-up and getting to read about candy from different points of view! I usually buy the big sale bags of candy at the last minute when they get cheaper, but I am thinking about doing something a bit healthier this year…TBD!

I honestly won’t be handing anything out for halloween. We go trick or treating but my son doesn’t eat candy ( not because of me he just doesn’t seem interested). Then we get home he looks at all the candy and then basically uses it to bribe the kids in the neighborhood to play with their toys…lol
Annie says
I won’t be home, but I’m thinking of leaving a bucket of Twix or KitKats for the kids! Yum 🙂

I try to hand out candy I don’t like so that I won’t eat it. Fortunately, most people like the candy I don’t like!

Unicef is such a great program. Since kiddo has siblings and she lives with her mom during the week, Halloween isn’t really a holiday we get really pepped up about. Our church used to do a Trunk n Treat but they haven’t in a few years.

We have soooooooooo many trick or treaters but we still give out candy. It cost us a small fortune. I was thinking about giving out some coupon books this year that I saw on the blog for a frosty or something like that. I need to look into that.
Melissa Smith says
Candy!!!! But I have to remember to stock up this week. Last year no store had any chocolates left one whole week before trick or treat.

We aren’t home to pass out candy, because my girls are too busy getting candy.

I RSVP’d! This is going to be a great party! So far as my children are still trick or treating age, we arent’ home to hand out candy. So, its more like we have to sift through as parents and pick out the yummies for us! haha
