My Mom always made the ‘lambie cake’ for Easter every year. She has this cake mold shaped like a lamb and she always decorated it up to look so cute every year. I’m not that ambitious but I love a sweet treat for the kids and we have fun filling and hiding baskets and eggs. I think I get a bigger kick out of finding good hiding spots than they do out of finding them!

Easter was always one of my favorite holidays growing up. My dad would always buy about 10 large chocolate bunnies and hide them around our living room. (Why so many? So he could eat them, too! Haha) After we had our 9am chocolate fix, we’d head to church and then to my grandparent’s house for turkey dinner with all the fixings. Every year it was the same and I loved it. We’re still developing our traditions with my son Sam, but Easter is becoming one of his favorites.

We always had Easter Egg hunts at my grandma and papaw’s house when I was little. Now that I have my own family, we still get together every year with our big ole’ family and let the littles hunt eggs. They always have such a great time. I love Easter. It’s an important day for us and what it symbolizes. We try to do something really fun each year. Last year for the older kids we put glow sticks in the eggs and let them hunt them after dark. They loved that! It’s a wonderful day filled with faith, friends, family and of course, a trip from the Easter Bunny!

Super Easy Bunny Pie Pops – An Easy Easter Treat
Spring is almost here which means all kinds of awesome things: warmer weather, flowers, and Easter. I’m a huge Easter fan and everything that it stands for. We make it a huge celebration in our house. We always have a Resurrection Garden and we love making silk dyed Easter eggs. But we also love making fun treats. These Super Easy Bunny Pie Pops are beyond easy and even more adorable.
You will need to have cookie cutters and lollipop sticks for this project.
1 box
Pillsbury refrigerated pie crusts
1/2 cup
pie filling homemade or store bought-
Lollipop sticks
1
egg beaten-
sugar -
flour -
cookie cutter
Servings:
-
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray cookie sheets with cookie spray.

Sprinkle flour on your work surface and unroll the pie crusts onto the flour. Using your Easter cookie cutter, cut your shapes out of the crust. To make additional Easter Pie Pops, roll the excess dough out flat and use cookie cutter to create additional shapes.

To make your Easter Bunny Pie Pop, press the lollipop stick into the bottom layer of crust.

Then, top each crust with about ½ tablespoon of pie filling and cover with the top layer of crust.

Using a fork or extra lollipop stick, press the edges of the two crusts together to seal the Easter Bunny Pie Pop together. Brush the tops of your Easter Bunny Pie Pops with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar on top.

Bake for 9 minutes or until Easter Bunny Pie Pops are golden brown. Remove Easter Bunny Pie Pops from the cookie sheet and let them cool completely on cooling racks.
These would be easily made in tons of different flavors and with any shapes!
There are lots of fun shapes that would be perfect for Easter.

Easter DIY Craft – How to Make a Resurrection Garden
Last year I shared with you our Resurrection Rolls and yesterday I shared with you another snack to use while teaching the Easter Story. Today I am sharing an Easter DIY project that is one of my favorites! A Resurrection Garden! Just seeing this on our table reminds me of the true meaning of Easter and is a great reminder of so many things that I am blessed with! It’s an amazingly easy project with lots of variety so feel free to make it your own!
You will need:
– A pot/saucer – Potting Soil
– A smaller terracotta pot
– Rocks (1 bag of small rocks and 1 large)
– Sticks
– Twine/Yarn
– Either Wheat Grass or Moss
First just put a little potting soil into your saucer. Not a lot!
Next, lay your smaller pot on it’s side. This will be your ‘tomb’. Position it where you would like.
Now, lets add the rocks. Use the small ones to create a pathway. The large rock I rolled to the side of the tomb. That way you can see inside that it is empty and that He is risen!
Fill in your garden with dirt. You will want to go over the tomb!
To make the Crosses you simply break a stick and using either yarn, twine or even hot glut stick them together.
Originally we were going to plant wheat grass on ours. It grows really quickly and is nice and thick. But, instead we decided to go for the instant gratification of the moss. 🙂

No Bake Easy Easter Snack & Resurrection Activity For Kids
Easter is one of my favorite holidays! I love everything about it! I try to make sure that the reason behind the season isn’t lost in all the jelly beans and Easter Eggs. If you are looking for a quick and easy snack and activity to do with your children or a project for Sunday School at church this one is always a big hit!
No Bake Easy Easter Snack & Resurrection Activity For Kids
Start with a Graham Cracker and spread on some green tinted icing. Green grass is always very Easter-ish! 🙂
Then we add a doughnut to represent the tomb that Jesus was buried in.
Then we added half of a doughnut hole to represent the rock that had been moved to reveal the empty tomb. And for fun we added a toothpick with the words “He Has Risen!”.
This project is quick to hold the kiddo’s attention, a great lesson, easy for the small kids to make and fun for the big ones to want to make one too! Feel free to decorate with green coconut for grass, flower sprinkles, or fun Easter toppers!

How to Dye Easter Eggs with Silk Ties
Easter is April 20th this year and if you are out looking for fun ways to decorate your Easter Eggs then you have to try our favorite method! Now, if you’ve been around for a while you know this is how we decorate our Easter Eggs each year and it is by far the easiest way and makes the prettiest eggs!
How to Dye Easter Eggs with Silk Ties
First you will need a few supplies.
-Silk ties (make sure that they are 100% silk!)
-white fabric of some sort (we’ve used a flour sack, cotton fabric, and when we made these an old t-shirt that Josh has outgrown!)
-vinegar
-rubber bands
I pick up my ties from the thrift store. Honestly, the uglier the better! 🙂
Flip your ties over and cut down the center to open them up. (Make sure you don’t cut all the way through to cut them in half! You just want to open it to lay flat.) There is a lining inside. Go ahead and take that out and throw it away. Also, at this point start your water! Add 1 – 1/2 cup vinegar and fill up a pot with water and bring it to a boil.
Then, place your egg on the widest part. You can go ahead and cut it – you don’t need the whole tie. Just make sure you leave enough to fully wrap the egg up!
You want to lay your egg on the ‘color side’ so the colors can easily transfer to the egg. Wrap the egg up tight and secure with a rubber band.
Now I will say we used Silly Bands (anyone else have a bazillion of those around their house?!) DO NOT USE THEM!! They do not hold up in the boiling water! Our eggs still came out, but not as well. 🙁 You want to make sure that the fabric is pulled tight and the rubber bands have it well secured!
Wrap them up with the white fabric and again secure with a rubber band.
Drop in the boiling water and just let it be! I leave mine in for about 20 minutes.
Time to pull your eggs out and unwrap them. I would say that you should let them cool first (and you probably should…) but I’m not patient enough for that. 🙂
Here are some of our eggs. You can tell which ones were done using regular rubber bands and NOT the Silly Bands! It’s really important to get them nice and tight! Don’t be scared to try ties that have lots of details! Last year we did one with lots of men riding old fashioned bicycles and it looked awesome!
We aren’t hard boiled egg lovers in our home so our eggs are strictly for decoration. 🙂

Resurrection Rolls – A Fun (and Yummy) Easter Tradition
I wanted to make sure to share with you one of our favorite Easter traditions – making Resurrection Rolls! This is such a fun and yummy way to teach the Easter story! Plus, it’s so incredibly easy! 🙂
You will need:
1 package Crescent rolls (here is a coupon)
8 Marshmallows
4 tbsp melted butter
3 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cinnamon
The How To:
Melt the butter and put the cinnamon sugar mixture in a bowl. Grease your baking pan and pre-heat the oven according to the crescent roll directions. (You can read John 19 if you would like!)
Give your child a marshmallow and explain that it represents Jesus. After Jesus died on the cross he was prepared for burial. Back then that meant using oil (the melted butter) and spices (the cinnamon sugar mixture.)
(Dip the marshmallow in butter and then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture)
Then he was wrapped in linen cloth.
(Place the marshmallow in the crescent roll. You will need to wrap it up tightly and pinch it shut. You will want to make sure that it is sealed!)
(Place on a cookie sheet.)
Then, he was placed in a tomb (represented by the oven) and a large rock was placed to block the entrance (the oven door).
(Close the oven door and cook according to crescent roll’s package instructions)
On Sunday morning, the third day, Mary Magdalene and several other women went to the tomb. When they arrived, they found the tomb had been opened already. When they went in, they did not find Jesus’ body and the wondered what had happened.
Suddenly, two angels appeared. The women were terrified, but the angels said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you that He would be turned over to sinful men, be crucified, and rise again on the third day!”
The women ran back to tell Jesus’ apostles what they had seen. Peter and one of the other apostles went to the tomb to see for themselves. They looked in and saw the linen cloths that Jesus’ body had been wrapped in but nothing else.
(Open your roll! Jesus – represented by the marshmallow – is not there! He has risen! All that is left are the linens he was wrapped in – the roll.)
We do this every year and it never gets old! It’s such a fun way to bring the Bible alive and really helps kids understand the Easter Story!

DIY: Silk Dyed Easter Eggs Tutorial

Easter is about a month away; can you believe it? I wanted to share with you my family’s favorite way to dye Easter eggs so you have time to get your supplies if you want to make some as well! We make silk dyed eggs each year for a few reasons:
- They are super easy.
- They are mess free! No spilling, no dripping, no dye stains!
- They are gorgeous!
- Everyone thinks you are an Easter Egg making master because they are quite impressive. 🙂
You will need 100% Silk ties. On the back of the tie there should be a small tag that says either 100% silk or all silk. Dark colors work best and we’ve had the best luck with some of the ugliest ties! You want ugly ties on your egg – not your man! 🙂 You will also need some white fabric of some sort (I’ve used an old pillow case before and last night I used a flour sack that I had cut up. You can get a pack of flour sacks for about $1 each at Target). You will also need hair ties (or you could use bread ties but hair ties are the easiest), vinegar and a pair of scissors.
First you need to cut the tie and take out the lining. Flip your tie over and just snip like shown above. There will be a lining piece that comes out. All you want is the pretty silk pattern.
Place your egg on a section of the silk tie.
Gather the silk around the egg. Try to pull it tightly around so the pattern lays flat on the egg. Secure it tightly with a hair tie.
Then wrap with the white fabric and secure. In a pot, boil water and add 1 cup of vinegar. Place the eggs in the water for about 20 minutes. Remove the eggs and place in a colander to cool. This is the hard part – waiting for them to cool!
After they have cooled unwrap them!
I bought a wild flower print tie and I absolutely loved the eggs that it made!
The yellow wasn’t quite dark enough but the other colors from the tie made some really great details!
We only did a few eggs last night, but I will show you our Easter Eggs when we dye them in a few weeks! In the mean time, hit up the thrift stores for some great ties! I can usually find them for $0.50 – $1.00 each.
