Shaker Gingerade – The Official Drink of Summer

Gingerade Ultimate Drink of Summer

School is starting to let out which means – it’s summer time! For us summer means sleeping in (a little!), hanging out by the pool, vacations, and lemonade! But not just lemonade – my household LOVES Gingerade! We make it all the time in the summer – so it’s become our official drink of summer! (I’m not fan on gingerale but I LOVE gingerade! So even if you aren’t big ginger fan make sure you try it!)

Shaker Fresh Gingerade – Makes 1 generous Quart

(I generally multiply the recipe, pour it in ziploc bags and freeze)

5 cups water

1 2-inch piece of ginger

2 lemons

1 cup sugar

1. Peel and coarsely chop the ginger.

(Peel, Chop, Boil, Juice!)

2. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil and add ginger and the zest of both lemons. Let boil for about 5 minutes and strain.

3. In a small saucepan, bring the sugar and remaining 1 cup water to a boil. Let both the lemon-ginger mixture and the sugar water mixture cool.

4. Juice the lemons. When both mixtures have cooled stir lemon juice into the ginger-infused mixture. Then, stir in the sugar syrup.

5. Serve over ice.

This recipe is a little work (just a little!) so we usually multiply the recipe, place it in ziploc bags and freeze. We go through so much that this is the only way I can keep up! 🙂 It’s not only delicious, but it’s an impressive drink to serve at your next BBQ or summer party!

Not sure how to work with ginger? It’s super easy to peel. Just use the back of the spoon! 🙂

Arbor Mist Frozen Wine Cocktails

frozen wine coolers
I was so excited to try Arbor Mist’s frozen wine cocktails. Sometimes I need a glass of wine at the end of the day – and hey, red wine is good for your heart! 🙂
My only problem is I usually open a bottle have a glass (or two!) and then the bottle goes in the fridge and unfortunately goes bad. I wish I could buy half bottles of my favorite wines!
That’s one thing I LOVE about the Arbor Mist Frozen Wine Cocktails! I can open one (it fills a big old glass!) and no wine goes to waste!

These packs are filled with yummy frozen cocktails (made with wine!) and have 3 awesome flavors – Blackberry Merlot, Strawberry White Zinfandel, and White Pear Pinot Grigio. You just put the bags in the freezer for at least 5 hours. Then, open the package and pour into your glass.
I really liked all of the flavors but the Blackberry Merlot and White Pear Pinot Grigio were my favorites. I took a few packs over to my friends house and we had a Poker girl’s night. Everyone loved them! They are so easy to take with you and since they are pre-made that means no blenders! And they are only about $2 each at the store!!
What are some of your favorite drinks to take for girl’s night?

Strawberry Lemonade

Some days lately it’s been really warm here. Like summer warm. Even when it was March! Which is fine with me. I can’t wait until summer. I’ve been thinking about it everyday since November. 🙂

So the last really warm day we had I decided that I would pretend it was summer and make a batch of strawberry lemonade. I should have made a few batches because it was gone that night. So good.

You need to boil about 2 cups of water. Then add 1 cup sugar. Lower the heat and let simmer until sugar disolves. Add a little bit of lemon peel and squeeze about 1 cup of lemon juice. Stir and remove from the heat. I pour mine into a big bowl.

Add a pint of hulled and halved strawberries to the simple syrup mixture. Stir and let it cool. Then toss in the blender. Add another 2 cups or so of water/club soda/sparkling water (it depends on how strong you like your lemonade!) and put in the refridgerator to chill. (Ours didn’t have time to chill – it just got sucked down!)
Serve over ice (and with your rim lined with sugar – I know right!?)
Yum. So good!
What reminds you of summer?
And for your pinning pleasure 🙂
