Tropical Pineapple Lemonade Recipe
Pineapple is one of my favorite fruits. And lemonade is one of my favorite summer drinks. So it’s only natural that we would combine the two for a sweet, tropical refreshing drink!
P.S. If you are looking for a fantastic adult version, add a shot of rum and it will feel like you are on your own tropical island. 🙂
- 4 C of pureed pineapple
- 1 C agave
- 1 C water
- 3 lemons, juiced
- 3 C cold water
- 6 C ice cubes
- Core and cut your pineapple. (I swear bythis pineapple corer! I can cut and core a pineapple in 30 seconds with it and it makes sure that nothing goes to waste.)
- Put pineapple in a bowl add the ½ C agave. Stir ingredients and allow to sit for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Puree the pineapple with agave until all of the chunks are gone. (The pureed pineapple will last for about 2 days if kept in a refrigerator. You can also fill an ice cube tray with the puree pineapple to add to your next pitcher of Pineapple Lemonade.)
- Pour the other ½ C of agave into a large pitcher. Add the cold water and fresh lemon juice.
- Stir well to blend.
- Pour ⅓rd of the pureed pineapple into the pitcher. Stir well. Add ice to the pitcher.
- Stir the Pineapple Lemonade again before pouring into individual glasses with ice in each.
Seriously, you may never make regular lemonade again! Yummy!

Zootopia Movie Preview!
So many movies, so little time! Have you heard about this new great movie from Disney? It’s called Zootopia and looks like it’s going to be really funny and completely adorable!
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”), opens in theaters on March 4, 2016.

Best Potty Training Tips
Potty training is the first right of passage that every child and parent goes through. It can be tough, but in the end it’s so rewarding. Joshua wasn’t potty trained until he was almost 4! Every time I would go to the store I would tell him “I am not buying Pull-Ups anymore. This is the last bag.” And the next week I would be back. He wanted nothing to do with the potty. He was scared. I was frustrated. The preschool was even telling me that he couldn’t move up into the 4 year old class until he was potty trained. I had no idea what to do. I felt like we had tried everything.
Then, one morning while I was getting him ready for preschool he said “I want to wear underwear to school.” Eek! Progress! We had worn underwear over his Pull-Up lots of times, but this was the first time he had asked. When I got out a new Pull-Up to put on him, he said “No, underwear.” I about jumped out of my skin! I was so excited. He wanted to ditch the diaper!
We went to school and I told the teacher so she could keep an eye out and to expect an accident. He had never gone potty at school before. When I picked him up that afternoon he was still in the same clothes. She said he had gone all day long. What?! That night when we got ready for bed he was still accident free and when I went to put a Pull-Up on him for bed he said “No, mom.” I thought, ok…. and was expecting a middle of the night wake up call. But to my surprise, the next morning he was dry.
After he chose to wear underwear, he never had an accident. Ever. (Well, except when he couldn’t find a bathroom!) I was so happy! (Although part of me was thinking “You stinker! You could do it the whole time!”) He was happy.
So while potty training can be hard, remember each child is different. But that moment of “getting it” is so worth it!
Here are some potty training tips!
“While potty training Sam, we learned that patience was key. Rushing it or pushing Sam beyond his comfort level just didn’t work for us. By allowing him to go at his own pace, we were able to encourage him to check out the potty and then become comfortable using it. Once he felt comfortable, we were able to establish a routine and reward system that led us to success!”
Stephanie is the mom to Sam and the author of Spaceships and Laser Beams. If you ever need party ideas her site is the place to visit! Specializing in all things boy, it’s full of inspiration! Follow her on Twitter here!
“Potty training can be so difficult, especially for boys. Our best tip is to have a rewards system in place, whether it’s stickers, candy, or money! Also, being consistent is key. One thing that really worked for us was buying character underwear. Pick a pack or two of their favorite characters and they’ll wanna be BIG kids then!!”
Jenni is the mom of one and the author of Sweet Pennies From Heaven. A hearth and home website, Sweet Pennies From Heaven focuses on recipes, crafts and creating a comfortable home. Follow her on Twitter here!
” I have to say patience is the best thing you can have when potty training. My son was definitely on his own time when it came to potty training. When he decided he was ready and comfortable, potty training was a breeze. Hang in there Moms! It will come!”
Amanda is the mom to Joshua and owns It’s a Fabulous Life. If you are looking for a one stop place for all things mom, It’s a Fabulous Life is it! May The Force Be With You…At Breakfast
Breakfast time reminds me a lot of the Star Wars movies. You have some that wake up all Luke Skywalker like and some that are bit on the Dark Side.
Trust me. You don’t want to mess with the dark side early in the morning.
And now, General Mills has a new Star Wars Cereal with fun new box designs that lets your family answer the age old question: What side are you on?
Launched in June, Star Wars Cereal has two fun boxes. Currently, Yoda and Darth Vader are gracing the covers and both boxes have some fun games and trivia on the back.
What is even cooler is that every few months, two new characters will be on the cover of the cereal! Kids (and adults) will have fun choosing their favorites time and time again.
But it’s not just about the box. It’s what the inside of the box that counts. (You like that? Yeah, I do too.) Y’all this was really yummy. In fact even the grumpy Vaders of our home left the table changed over to the good side. This cereal (which is made with whole grains!) is a fruity cereal with colorful mini marshmallows in the shapes of things like Yoda and light sabers.
For real. Could it get any better?
Of course it can. Because I have a coupon for you. And not some rinky dink coupon. A coupon for $1 off your next box of Star Wars Cereal.
So now you just have to decide: What side are you on?
(Or you can do like I did and just get both! After all, you’ve got $1 off coupon!)
Pottery Barn Inspired Living Room: Get the Look For Less
I love getting catalogs in the mail. Do you remember when you were little and the toy catalogs would come before Christmas? I would circle the cool toys that I wanted and hoped for. Plus, everything new that I found that I didn’t even know that I wanted!
Many years later, I still get excited when catalogs get delivered. Flipping through dreaming of stocking my closet, redecorating our home, or cruises to take. And while I may not circle everything in them anymore, I do keep the catalogs around for longer than I should. And I keep my eyes open for look alike pieces that I can use to recreate the looks in my budget.
This living room is from Pottery Barn. Their website is just as full of inspiration as their catalogs! I love the neutral colors with the pop of patterns (and color) on the pillow.
I’m a big fan of splurging on things, but I also know I need to create things in my budget. Here are some great look alike pieces that we used to recreate the look.
The Sofa:
The original sofa from Pottery Barn is available in many colors and looks like you could just sink into it. But with a price tag of $2,299 (and living in a house with kids and dogs) it’s not in my budget. This Baxton Studio Leather Sectional Sofa has good reviews, ships for free and has the same shape that this room is looking for! Plus, it’s $888.38.
The Tables:
I love the look of the Tanner Cube Tables. They have a classic look, slightly industrial, clean lines and it will never go out of style. The end tables are $259 from Pottery Barn, but I found these Southern Enterprises Metal Frame End Tables from Target for just $66.99.
The Sofa table is also from Southern Enterprises at Target! It is only $129.99.
The Lamp:
I really love the Emery Floor Lamp from Pottery Barn. Originally $499, it’s on sale for $399. Luckily I found this Illuminada Glass Ball Floor Lamp that is half of that!
The Rug:
This Nate Berkus (LOVE him) Diamond Area rug from Target is a great neutral and will add a fantastic layer and awesome texture to your room!
The Pillows:
Ask my friends and they will tell you that I am a sucker for two things when it comes to shopping for our house: pillows and blankets. I think both items can completely change the look of your room! Don’t be shy: Colors don’t have to match, mix up the textures and fabrics, and patterns.
- Text covered pillow:
The original – $23.50 from Pottery Barn
Our inspired – $14.95 from Amazon - Black and White Patterned Pillow:
The original – $39.50 from Pottery Barn
Our inspired – $15.98 from Amazon - Polka Dot Pillow:
The original – $39.50 from Pottery Barn
Our inspired – $16.34 from Amazon - Chevron Pillow:
The original – $39.50 from Pottery Barn
Our inspired – $16.99 from Target
The Details:
A room isn’t complete without some decorative accessories.
- Wooden Chess Set ($14.10)
- 3 Ball Glass Vase Set ($29.99)
- Smith & Hawken Hurricane Candle Holder ($12.99)
- Classic Style Lamp Candle Holder ($25.50)
UE Boom Review – The Ultimate Gift For Music Lovers
This year I have been working hard on finding perfect gifts for a few hard to buy for people on this year’s list. You know the ones….tweens and teens. You ask them what they want and they say things like “cash” or “gift cards.” While these are great options, I am a gift giver. I love it. I love thinking up the perfect gift. I love wrapping it up. And I love watching it get opened and the recipient’s face. There is something so fun about getting that perfect gift. And I have found it! Logitech has a great wireless speaker called UE Boom and I am in love.
First, can we talk about the packaging?
Your speaker will come in a tube that kind of reminds me of a tube you use at the bank drive thru.
Not only is this create a safe way for your wireless speaker to ship, it makes for a cool presentation.
There are two compartments, one above and one below and it contains the charging cord and wall charger.
Using the speaker is so easy. Just simply turn on the blue tooth on your device (I used my phone, but you can also use your tablet or computer.) Then hold on the power button on the speaker and it will connect. That’s it!
There is a large plus and minus on the front that are not only cool looking, but will control the volume.
And speaking of volume. This little speaker can pack some serious sound! The sound is really amazing. It’s only a great size to go with you on the go. Speakers are water and stain resistant which means they are perfect for taking on trips, to the beach, the pool, even just to the bathroom to listen to while you shower. And this wireless speaker will last up to 15 hours on a single charge! WOW!!
Another fun thing about the UE Boom is the variety of colors. They even have some patterned speakers!
You can get a high quality, fun speaker for under $200. This is one of my top gift ideas this year! We are big UE Boom fans!
I received a UE Boom in exchange for my honest opinion for this post. All opinions are 100% my own.
Fresh Peach Lemonade Recipe
Summer and lemonade go together like peanut butter and jelly. Cool, refreshing and delicious, I definitely don’t complain when the kid’s lemonade stands start to line our street.
This year we participated in Lemonade Day for Indianapolis. Lemonade Day is a really awesome organization that helps to teach kids about entrepreneur skills and running their own business. Kids are in charge of their own business and can even create letters or movies to get investors to help with their start up costs.
Joshua’s lemonade stand was called Pups For Cups. While kids are in charge of how they spend their money that they raise in their lemonade stand, Josh wanted to donate his money to the animal rescue that we got our dog Lincoln from. Lemonade Day is a program that is available in many cities across the country! I really encourage you to check it out for your kids for next year! Indianapolis makes Lemonade Day a big deal! Our city created so many wonderful events to encourage the kids!

Josh has taken his lemonade stand to the next level. He really wanted to raise as much money as he could for Bright Hope Pet Rescue. He’s sold t-shirts and while Lemonade Day is over, he still has been selling! One of Joshua’s secrets is flavored lemonades. This fresh peach lemonade is a top seller!

Navy & Silver Summer Fashion Outfit For Women
If you were to ask me about my style I would tell you that it can definitely be described as classic. I like classic colors, classic styles, and classic pieces that can be mixed and matched time and time again to create fantastic outfits time and time again. I like being able to find favorite things and be able to wear them five years later because some things just never go out of style.
Don’t get me wrong! I love having a few fun trendy pieces to add to to the mix. But every outfit is usually made up with the classics and maybe a trendy piece here and there. Just like today’s outfit! Classic accessories and jeans with a swing top. All in classic colors. All affordable. All gorgeous!
I love this shirt. The color is a gorgeous shade of navy. The fabric is perfect for summer and the shape of the shirt is perfect and flattering. If you are like me and have a few insecurities about a few um, acquired extras, this top will help you look and feel like a million bucks!
Get the top here!
The top had some really amazing silver detailing. It would look great with dark denim, but there is something so pretty about a pair of crisp, white denim.
Get the jeans here!
This is my favorite brand of nail polish. Their colors are beautiful, they go on super smooth and they last longer than other brands do on my nails. (I’m notorious for painting them and having them chip a few hours later! A good polish like this helps so much to have my manicure last longer.) A pretty navy shade will help pull this look together.
Get the nail polish here!
These shoes from Ralph Lauren are available in lots (and lots) of colors. The wedges have a great shape and are made well.
Get the shoes here!
A crisp white handbag to go with the white jeans in this outfit. Clean and pulled together. This handbag has a great shape – not too big but big enough to hold all of the essentials!
Get the handbag here!
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. But unfortunately they are not my bank account’s best friend. Luckily these earrings are pretty enough that no one will know the difference. Well, except for your bank account!
Get the earrings here!
Layering together watches and bracelets are a great way to add texture and interest to an outfit. This sweet bracelet is a great reminder!

Every girl’s closet needs a boyfriend watch. I have this one in all 3 colors that it is available in. 🙂

You can get this who outfit (all 9 pieces) for only $213! Cute, classic and affordable!
Thanks Fashion 4 Mom for another great outfit!
